Software Upgrades
We would like to share helpful information to enhance the Ventbuster® User experience. As our client, you are receiving regular emails with tips and tricks for operating the Ventbuster®. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us.
To provide the best possible user experience, we have enhanced our current software platform for the Ventbuster®. Please review the following information and install a software update to both the Ventbuster® Tablet and Ventbuster® Comms Unit:
Ventbuster® Tablet: Version v 0.3.16
Version 0.3.16 of the android application is now available for download from the Google Play Store. The update is private for Ventbuster clients only - please contact us, should you need the update link.
This update will improve the reliability of data uploads from the Ventbuster® Tablet. In a few cases, the Tablet could overrun the rate at which messages could be accepted by the cloud service. Users would potentially see duplicate “Test START” and “Test END” notifications.
Ventbuster® Comm Unit: Version v 1.1.0
Version 1.1.0 of the Comms unit firmware is now available for an over-the-air update. It will improve or correct for four (4) functions:
In rare cases, measurements could have a minor timestamp variance. Data could be timestamped from a fractionally earlier period in the test, resulting in small gaps in test data where the measurements should have been.
After deleting measurements using the Comms Unit menus or Tablet, in the odd case, the device could “re-discover” previously transmitted measurements and flag them as new un-transmitted measurements.
A pointer in the memory that referenced the stored address for the next data transmission was always written to the same flash location. Over time, this could lead to flash wear-out. This problem has not been seen in the field, but software programming has been changed as a precaution.
With the upgrade, the Ventbuster® Comms unit no longer needs to scan its memory for measurements each time it boots up. This will result in a start-up when there is a large measurement backlog.
Ventbuster® Comm Unit: Version v 1.1.0 Installation
Installing v 1.1.0 will delete any untransmitted measurements stored on the Comms unit. As long as there are un-transmitted measurements, the update will not be installed automatically. To install v 1.1.0 on a device with un-transmitted measurements, choose one of the three options below:
Wait for the Ventbuster® Comms Unit to transmit all measurements directly.
Transfer all measurements to the tablet, then delete them off of the Ventbuster® Comms Unit.
Manually install the update via the user menus, which will delete any un-transmitted measurements.
* This is only recommended if there is no value to keeping saved any measurements saved on the device.
